CD review from Throat Culture Magazine
Unleash The Massattack is the name of the breakthrough album from California's Hostile Groove. Brought to
you by Massattack Records, the 14 songs on this very heavy album live up to the bands name. With influences like Pantera and
many others, Hostile Groove delivers an album chock full o' everything from thrash to nu-metal with rap style vocals without
sounding like a typical radio band. I'm sure many of you will appreciate their pro-marijuana stance, particularly on the soon-to-be
anthem "Always 420." With that said, Hostile Groove is not a band that seems to want to crank out easily digestable "hits."
For example, the song "Ahh Shit" is not something that your gonna hear from Creed! Hostile Groove one of the few unsigned
(hopefully, that'll changs soon!) bands that i can actually listen to more than once without feeling ill. While there are
certainly elements of current pseudo-heavy trends on this album, it avoids the overall static-cling-like sound of so many
of their coorperate-manufactured brethren. I recommend this album to anyone that welcomes music that is both heavy and original
with plenty to say. -Russ Austin
