Hostile Groove is a Massachusetts band currently residing in Hollywood California. They have been together
since 1995 putting out several demos, shooting two music videos, attending Musicians Institute, and recently releasing their
first full length album called "Unleash The Massattack" on their own label "Massattack Records". Through all of this they
have long been recieving much attention from fans and the music industry. Stylistically, they are an aggressive metal trio
with a wide range of guttural screams, low end growls and very energetic staccato rhyme style vocals. Now, you may be asking
yourself, What does Hostile Groove have to do with our honestate of Texas? Well, after moving into Los Angeles at the end
of 1999, Hostile Groove's path crossed with bass player and native, Aric Wright of San Antonio Texas. Since then they have
continued to blaze the metal trails with fury and conviction away from their home towns. Why is Aric Wright so special you
ask? Well, the kid just so happens to be one damn ferocious musician playing in a band which sooner or later everyone will
know about... The question is how do you turn a Texan into a Hollywood Massachusen?
Aric Wright was born and Raised
in San Antonio Texas, living there for 19 years before moving to the Los Angeles area. He moved to Hollywood, California in
the year 2000 to attend the Musicians Institute. "I was looking for a complete change in enviroment where i might find other
people only interested in playing music and persueing their dreams," says Aric. In addition to being apart of the local scene
full of great musicians and bands, hooking up with Hostile Groove and having the opportunity to play bass in the most sincere
metal band in the world was Aric's claim to stay. "Hostile Groove is always moving up to the next level," he states. "The
dedication and determination that goes into the band is unbelievable, the music is brutal and from the heart, and the fans
absolutely kick ass and show support like no others. Jamming with Hostile Groove has been a learning experience that continues
to challenge me everyday,: Aric passionately adds.
Before moving to Los Angeles Aric had been plying guitar for 10
years, yet not really playing in any bands. "I was just practicing and jamming along to my favorite albums and saving up money
fot the Megadeth, Ozzy, Type O Negative and Sepultura concerts," admits Aric. He didn'y pick up the bass until the 9th year
when his brother's band called him out to fill in on bass for their CD release party. Since then all he wanted to do was jam
and gig out live. "The White Rabbit in San Antonio was a cool club and one of my favorites," he goes on to say, "I'd definetly
like Hostile Groove to pack the house and destroy the place someday. Although we are working on some West Coast mini tours
and a East Coast tour for this summer, I'm not sure when we'll make it down there, hopefully within the next year."
Moving
to Hollywood has provided Aric an atmosphere to be productive in and grow as a musician. It's also made him realixe that the
best music right now is comming from indeoendent/underground bands that have put everything they've got into their music because
that's all they got. But in the endeven though Aric lives in the Los Angeles area, he does not concider it home. Besides,
"The Barbeque, beer, and women always taste better in Texas!" and if the time came where Hostile Groove needed to relocate
to further the band he'd have no problem leaving Hollywood. "Till then," he says, "Hostile Groove will be promoting their
new album "Unleash The Massattack" on their own independent record label until they have reached world domination!!!" Aric
concludes, "I just want to say that Texas kicks ass, especially San Antonio, and i can't wait for Hostile Groove to play down
there. If anyone is interested in finding out about us before then, you can check us out at www.hostilegroove.com. You can
also view a live feature interview with LA Metal TV by logging onto www.lametaltv.com." Lastly, Aricadds, "And to all aspiring
bands, keep working hard and believing in your music. Keep playing the music you feel and want to hear and don't try to appeal
to anyone. If the music is good it will appeal to the people on it's own. -Sue Port
