CD review in F.U.G. Magazine
So here's the story. Band forms in New England in '95, plays tons of shows throughout the area for
the next three years until singer & drummer move to LA where they find a new bassist, begin recording demos and establishing
a fan base. They record their self-produced debut album Unleash the Massattack in 2002, creating two music videos and
a lot of attention before releasing the record early the next year on their own label. Eventually the record finds it's
way into my mailbox, thanks to a friend at Century Media, where it sits for about a month until I finally have a chance to
listen to it. I am blown the fuck away! Proving that rap-metal doesn't have to be shitty Limp Bizkit sounding
crap, they rock and rhyme through fourteen songs full of aggressive heavy metal attitude. It's one groove ridden track
after another filled with full on guitar riffing, pounding bass lines, and quick step drumming, and topped off with all out
screaming and growling rhythm. As if the music wasn't enough, the enhanced CD portion of this was totally wicked.
If nothing else you have to check out the record for that reason alone. Preparing to embark on their first ever US tour,
Hostile Groove is going to create some major waves across the country this summer with Unleash the Massattack being gobbled
up by kids in every town they play. These fuckers will definitely be getting signed soon, you can bet on that, so be
sure to catch them before they get processed through the major label marketing machine and pick up your copy of Unleash the
Massattack today.
